The Fowey Estuary is regarded as one of the most charming and unspoilt parts of England’s South Coast. This lively Cornish town has strong connections with the author Daphne du Maurier who spent much of her life in the area and gives her name to the popular yearly literary festival. Narrow winding streets of medieval cottages showing glimpses of the river below littered with yachts, interesting little shops and galleries and a bustling quayside create a special atmosphere sure to attract visitors of all ages and interests. Local amenities are excellent with many restaurants and pubs, golf courses, sailing, canoeing, fishing, a sandy beach at Readymoney Cove and National Trust properties close by. The National Trust owned coast offers outstanding walking and wildlife opportunities. For those interested in horticulture, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project are within easy reach.
